Welcome to the renewed and reimagined version of “Subject to Change,” a blog which is subject to the vagaries of life and whim.

Since last I blogged, my world has evolved in myriad and delightful ways. The most significant change is my new job. In December, 2008 I started working as the Consumer Lifestyle Commentator for Cabot Creamery, a Vermont-based dairy cooperative with a rich 90-year history. Cabot makes amazing cheeses which year after year win awards around the world. Their cheddars are as amazing as they are varied, from Seriously Sharp to Mild, Sundried Tomato to Horseradish, and the Chili Triumvirate of Jalapeno, Habanero, and Chipotle.

Cabot is a dairy cooperative, which means that it is owned and operated by participating farmers. One hundred percent of Cabot’s profits are returned to the 1,350 dairy farmer members and their families. Since 1919 Cabot has been an integral part of New England’s rich farming tradition, playing a vital role in the area’s economy and culture.

The cooperative nature of Cabot and the extraordinary quality of their dairy products make a compelling story, but it is Cabot’s commitment to the health and vitality of their consumers that convinced me to join them. In my capacity as Consumer Lifestyle Commentator, I write and speak about fitness, wellness, and lifestyle issues. It is a job that elegantly combines my many work iterations into a cohesive whole.

You can rely on this blog to explore the expected — health, exercise, food, culture,  — and, at times, the unexpected. Contact me at cpkaru@gmail.com if you see something out there I should write about.
